The Port Warwick Foundation
The Port Warwick Foundation is a public non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization with the purpose of organizing and managing regional arts and entertainment events located at Styron Square in Port Warwick, Newport News, Virginia. Currently, the Foundation hosts the Port Warwick Summer Concert Series, a free outdoor series of concerts held each Wednesday evening from May through August, the Port Warwick Art & Sculpture Festival held on the 2nd weekend in October each year, a Holiday Tree Lighting in late November and a Jazz Series held in April and September.
The Summer Concert Series is in its 17th year, and was the first free outdoor summer concert series in the area. It has become the most popular and well attended of such events. The concerts are composed of a broad musical variety of bands to include jazz, blues, rock, country, swing, folk and bluegrass. Each concert draws from 500 to over 5,000 people based on the band and the weather on any given concert evening. The attendees come from all over the Virginia Peninsula and beyond.
The Port Warwick Art & Sculpture Festival is in its 18th year and is the Virginia Peninsula’s premiere outdoor juried art show. The Festival has over 90 selected artists who come from all over the United States, live music, food vendors, and a children’s activities. The Festival draws over 8,000 people over the weekend and has had art sales totaling over a million dollars since its inception.
The Port Warwick Holiday Tree Lighting is a festive holiday event for the whole family. The kids love visiting with Santa while choral groups provide live entertainment – all leading up to the lighting of the holiday tree!
The Jazz Series is a new venture for the Port Warwick Foundation. Started in 2019 and with a growing audience, it has become the favorite place on Sundays in April and September to sit, relax and listen to local jazz musicians.
The Summer Concert Series, Art & Sculpture Festival, Holiday Tree Lighting and Jazz Series contribute significantly to the quality of life on the Virginia Peninsula, making the area a better place in which to live and work. These events cannot happen without the generous support of our sponsors and donors. The Port Warwick Conservancy, which is the the property owners association of Port Warwick and the Port Warwick Merchant’s Association donate a significant monetary contribution to all of our events each year. The City of Newport News also provides some funding which makes up less than 10% of the cost to put on these events. Please consider a donation today keep these events alive and thriving!
